Leo Luchini announces the official cinematic companion to his debut album Slug It Out. The film translates the album’s viscerally volatile world into an integrative film: a stunt-laced live concert in the style of an art-house psychological erotic thriller. The band shares the stage with a cast of performers, including artist Göksu Kunak, dancer Bilgesu Akyürek and vocalist Leo Luther. Movement, voice, suspension and seduction become extensions of the album’s emotional architecture, giving physical form to its entanglements of anger, vulnerability, surrender and control. The stage design and performance script draw upon the same cultures of collision and punishment that shaped Slug It Out: pre-game rituals, ring entrances, mafia cinema, surveillance aesthetics, paparazzi culture and the charged anticipation preceding impact. Reconfigured as metaphors for inner turmoil, these references create a confrontational theatre in which preparation and consequence begin to blur. The performance includes stunt choreography, aerial acrobatics, spoken poetry, an improvised cover of The Stooges as well as a horn section over the heart-melting folk of “Full Moon Fallen”. Performed and shot in front of a live audience in Berlin, the film treats the stage as both crime scene and psychic interior. The cameras operate as active participants - pursuing, surveilling and implicating the performers while moving between intimacy and violation.
